Formerly known as the Kinderton House Hotel, the venue was due to close in June 2018 with plans for it to be demolished and the land used for residential development. However a last minute deal was struck with the former owners and as a result we were able to ensure that an important part of the community was kept open, and then started the really hard work…
A name change to “The Kinderton” shortly followed along with plans to build a new team to take the business forward, this included making immediate improvements and repairs to the site as well as a strategy for a full refurbishment at the start of 2019.
The venue benefits from its excellent location within the town but the outside area compliments the internal space so well. With a beer garden that can seat over 200 guests, a children’s play area and an open space to run around on, all overlooking the Trent & Mersey Canal. When the sun comes out it really becomes a completely unique place to visit and relax.
As complete newcomers to the industry, over the course of the next six months we got to grips with the many operational dynamics which helped shape our ideas of what we wanted the venue to offer in the future. After a hectic but very successful Christmas Party season we closed our doors on the 7th January 2019 to undergo a full refurbishment with the aim of putting our ideas into reality.
The design stage of the refurbishment was key and we teamed up with local designer Vinny Smith from Northern Backdrop Interior Design. We wanted to ensure that the venue had its own identity with strong links to Middlewich whilst still appealing to our broad cross-section of customers and age groups.
With Vinny’s guidance we focused on Middlewich itself and what it is known for, when looking closely now it is easy to recognise that every internal detail has a direct link to something you would see in the town, perhaps a good test for guests to work out the connections on their next visit.
Whilst the bar interior and exterior was being refurbished we were also busy completing the renovation of the hotel rooms. Each of the 10 rooms has been re-decorated and furnished to a high level and we offer a selection of standard, premier and family rooms for guests to choose from.
Our thanks go out to Hough Construction and the numerous local contractors who worked on the eight week project and ensured that we not only re-opened on time but we had a finished project which we are all so proud of.
We are now ready for the next stage of our ownership… Our aim is simple, to create a unique experience every time you visit with friends and family to ensure you want to come back.
